Our history

GeschichteIn 1896, Johann Bosten and his wife Elise Klein took over the hotel “A la ville de Verviers” located at the confluence of the Weser and Hill rivers. The business was handed over in 1938 to their son Hubert Bosten, who ran the hotel together with his wife Anne Gensterblum, under the name Hotel Hubert Bosten until the early nineteen sixties.

In 1962, their son Walter Bosten and his wife Irmgard Crott were placed in charge of the family business. The culinary standard of the meals proposed constantly increased and on Saturdays dancing parties were organised on a regular basis. In 1971, the hotel celebrated its 75th anniversary, and in 1974, large newly built premises were inaugurated that house the   “Le Gourmet”, the Salon Bleu and Salon 1 today.
In 1988, operations got transferred into the Ambassador Hotel Bosten. Limited corporatio and Roger Bosten became general manager. With the support of his parents, 20 state-of-the-art rooms were built on top of the restaurant building. In 1986, senior chef Walter Bosten was awarded the Golden Feather of the former Princes Carnival of Eupen, honouring his social and cultural commitment towards the city.

Actively backed by his wife Sandra Dericum, Roger Bosten expanded the hotel in 1998 by 8 more rooms and joined the Best Western group, a network of individually owned and operated hotels. In 2006, a new reception building got constructed and the large ballroom got fully renovated.

After the sudden passing away of Roger Bosten in 2009, his brother Hubert Bosten took over the management of the hotel and, together with all employees, his mother and his cousin Marc Klütgen, perpetuates the tradition of the family business Bosten.
