The High Fens

VennThe High Fens in the east of the Province of Liège is one of the most important nature reserves of Belgium and accordingly requires special protection.
Thanks to the rough climate of this area with its heavy precipitation, long and cold winters with low average temperature (6.1°C), many rare plant species of Northern Europe, of the mountain regions and of the Atlantic area have been preserved.
Hiking and cross-country skiing are the most popular leisure activities of nature lovers who visit the area in summer and winter. The educative nature centres and the sites of „Baraque Michel“, „Mont Rigi“ and „Signal de Botrange“ (highest point of Belgium – 694 m) are perfect starting points for an excursion into the High Fens and located only a few minutes from Ambassador Bosten.
