The parliament of the German Speaking Community

Since 1973, the German speaking population of Belgium has its parliament. Since the change of constitution of July 2004, it is called the parliament of the German speaking community. It is located in a magnificent building on Kaperberg in Eupen-, constructed in 1812 by the Sternickel family.
The parliament of the German speaking community represents the legal and law-making power of the smallest community in Belgium. It is composed of 25 representatives, who get elected every 5 years by the voters of the 75000 inhabitants of the community. Official language is German.
Public session, i.e. those open to visitors, are held every two weeks. Organised tours of the facilities are available upon interest and demand.
