The dam of Eupen

TalsperreThe dam of the Weser was built from 1936 to 1942 and from 1946 to 1949 at the so-called “Spabrunnen”, downriver of the confluent of Weser and Getzbach, some 4 km from the city centre of Eupen and from Ambassador Bosten. The water of the barrier lake comes from the rivers Weserbach, Getzbach and Hillbach.

In the past years, the Weser dam has become a popular destination thanks to its various leisure time facilities. The area surrounding the lake is perfectly suited for long walks, cycle tours and relaxation. While the water education trail will primarily warm guests interested in the technical data of the dam, the forest education trail provides information about the local flora and fauna. Of late, climbers get their money’s worth too, as the former look-out has been converted into a Climbing Tower.
