The gateway to the Eifel...

... as the city of Eupen is sometimes referred to, is a recognised climatic spa and Kneipp spa at the heart of the Euregio Maas-Rhine. Eupen has soma 18,000 inhabitants and is the administrative centre and capital city of the German-speaking community of Belgium.
Situated on the river Weser, Eupen became a rich city thanks to its textile industry, of which many magnificent town houses, churches and fountains still testify today. The city welcomes visitors on its numerous historical squares, and behind the facades renovated with much care and attention, one can enjoy regional culinary delicacies. Eupen, the gateway to the Eifel, is also the starting point of a number of interesting nature and adventure trails for hikers and cyclists.
In the close vicinity of the city, you can find the dam of the Weser, the largest drinking water reservoir in Belgium. Eupen lies at the borders of the High Fens, with its natural park centre Botrange and House Ternell, as well as the various hiking and cross-country skiing routes.
